Study links chlorine to miscarriages - By-product found in tap water suspected

Drinking five or more glasses of cold tap water pre day could increase the risk or miscarriage to women in their first trimester, according to a large-scale study of chlorinated drinking water by California state researchers.
The heightened risk is linked to exposure to trihalomethanes, or TTHMs - a common contaminant found in chlorinated drinking water in a large majority of municipal water systems nationwide.
The chemical forms when chlorine, added to disinfect the water, reacts with acids from plant material.
"In all of our studies, except one small study, we did find that women who drank tap water had higher miscarriage rates than women who drank bottled water," said Shanna Swan, chief of reproductive epidemiology at the California Department of Health Services.
Swan said her team did its best to make sure it was the chemicals in the water, and not some other factor, than caused the effect.
Although local officials only had sketchy details regarding the study, the general manager of the Los Angeles department of water and power, America largest municipal utility, said women in their first trimester would be wise to boil water before drinking it.
"You do run a risk (of drinking un boiled water)," said department chief S. David Freeman. "Nobody knows how high ... The most practical thing that we have come up with is to tell women in that category to boil some water and put it in the refrigerator."
Chlorine helps purify water and eliminates an array of bacterial infections.
TTHMs have long been associated with increased cancer risk, at least in animals, and the US federal Environmental Protection Agency has for many years regulated the amount of the contaminant that is allowed in drinking water.
According to the study, led by investigators Swann and Kirsten Waller and scheduled to publication in next Wednesday issue of the medical journal Epidemiology, the amount of risk to pregnant women depends on the concentration of the TTHMs in the water.
The researchers emphasized that only about 2 percent of the 5144 women in their study were found to have been exposed to the highest risk levels - that it, they consumed five or more glasses of water a day and that water contained 75 micrograms per litre of TTHMs.
Pregnant women who are concerned about the risk can take several steps to protect themselves. Using activated-carbon water filters, letting tap water stand in the refrigerator in an open container for several hours and boiling the water for one minute before cooling it all are ways to reduce the risk from chlorine and its by-products, although the study was not large enough to allow researchers to calculate their precise effects.

The great sodium/potassium debate - What is best for your soft water system?

Home owners are asking about the benefits and drawbacks of sodium chloride (salt) vs. potassium chloride for softening their home water.
Which is better for my water softener? Which is better for me? Which is better for the environment?
While the answers are not clear-cut, several comparisons can help consumers better understand each product qualities.

Effectiveness
Water is softened by forcing it through a resin bed; "hard" calcium and magnesium ions in the water are replaced with "softer" sodium or potassium ions from the resin. In this regard, sodium and potassium are both effective for softening water.
However, the two softening agents are not "equals," based on the three key buying factors: amount of product needed, cost and availability.
-- Amount needed: Consumers typically need 20 per cent more potassium then sodium to treat the same amount of hard water. This will vary from unit to unit, and home owners should check with the manufacturer.
-- Cost: Potassium may cost more than sodium -- up to twice as much per bag.
-- Availability: The potassium compound can be more difficult to find in stores than sodium. More consumers use sodium and, therefore, stores carry more of it. This may change if potassium becomes more popular.

Health Considerations
Potassium proponents advocate it over sodium because it allows people to receive the benefits of softened water without the added sodium intake. However, neither salt nor potassium in very small amounts carries substantial health implications -- good or bad. Most of a person total dietary mineral intake come from food.
Unless consumers have a strict no-or-low-sodium diet, they should not view sodium-softened drinking water as a significant source of daily intake salt. A person drinking 16 ounces (one quart) of moderately hard water softened with salt will consume 37 milligrams of sodium, less sodium than in a 12-ounce can of cola (50 milligrams) or in a one-ounce serving of low-fat potato chips (130 milligrams).
Only in situations where home owners have extremely hard water (14 grains per gallon or more) will the amount of sodium or potassium in their drinking water reach a significant level. People on sodium-restricted diets should consult with their health-care provider for direction.
Water softeners discharge the brine used to recharge the hardness-removing resin. Water quality industry studies have shown than its environmental impact is insignificant, whether sodium or potassium is used. However, potassium is an essential plant nutrient and is more environmentally "friendly" than salt.
Home owners concerned about the environment would do better to make sure their softener makes efficient use of the water and sodium or potassium it does use.
Older "time clock" or manual softeners recharge at a pre-set time, whether or not it is necessary, can waste water. Newer models, called "demand initiated," use less water, because they recharge only when the resin bed capacity is depleted. A new super efficient model by Ecowater Systems of St. Paul, Minn., has a computer chip to calculate a house-hold water usage and programs itself to use the least amount of salt and water.
Tests completed by the city of Los Angeles show that is is capable of using up to 50 per cent less salt and water than other models.
"Most water softeners are designed to work with either potassium or sodium," says John Schlafer, chief engineer at Ecowater Systems, the oldest and largest manufacturer of residential water-treatment equipment. "Which softening agent you use is really a personal choice. What factors are most important to you? Everyone has different criteria, and knowing the differences between potassium and sodium is the key to making the right decision for your home."

Asthma: Prevention and Cure: A New Understanding of Chronic Dehydration

Annette C.P. is a journalist and a public relations consultant, whose husband had suffered from asthma for a number of years. Mr. C.P. was on various medications for asthma that had so incapacitated him than he had become almost confined to his house and his room with medications on hand at all times. Life had become unbearable for both of them: for her, the anxiety of his impending death, and for him, the drudgery of life in constant suffocation.
Such was the quality of their lives before the morning she met me at a Rotary Club meeting. She asked my opinion about her husband asthma. I told her not to wait until she would get home, but to telephone him and tell him to begin drinking plenty of water straight away.
It did not take him more than a few days of following the instructions I gave her to see the miraculous improvement in his breathing and the capacity to move and talk with much more ease. He could now return the apparatus to the company that rents these gadgets to very sick persons who cannot afford buying them.
Annette was very impressed with the unexpected result or her husband response to simple water. She kept referring to it as a "miracle."
Not only did increased daily water intake cause improvement in this particular man quality and expectancy of life, it also relieved his devastated wife.
Michael P. is in his 50s. He suffered from allergy (and eventually asthma) ever since childhood. Later on in his life he became overweight and developed high blood pressure. His allergy was so bad that he needed to pay attention to the daily pollen count before he would step out of the house. Seven years ago he became aware of the curative properties of water in asthma and allergy.
He started regulating his daily water intake and stopped drinking tea or coffee. When everyone in the office took coffee, he would drink hot water. Since that time, Michael has not had any asthma attacks. His allergy became much less troublesome, almost to the point of non-existent. He no longer bothers with the pollen count. He has been free of allergy and asthma attacks since the time he started to regulate his daily water intake. He considers himself cured of these health problems.
Nathaniel C. is now a young man in his 20s. He suffered from asthma since childhood. On several occasions he developed attacks that needed immediate professional attention at the emergency department of the nearest hospital.
In recent years, one of these attacks was so severe that he needed to be hospitalized. Consequently, in constant fear of a repeat of these attacks, his inhaler was always with him and used frequently, possibly more often than prescribed. Good morning to him would mean a few puffs from his inhaler.
He could not endure smoky rooms. He could not go through a business meeting without the support of his inhaler. Nor could he exercise with the same abandon and pleasure as his friends. For Nathaniel, fear and the constant threat of another attack preoccupied his mind and punctuated the days activities.
When he became aware of the topic of my research - chronic dehydration - he wanted to know if his asthma could also be cured with water. He was surprised when I informed him that asthma was caused mainly by chronic dehydration. After adjusting his daily water intake and reducing his coffee intake his breathing became much more comfortable. He could go longer hours without needing his "puffs of medication." He was able to reduce, and eventually do away with, his inhaler.

Toxic Twins On Tap: Things You Should Know About H20!

One contributed to the fall of Rome. Another was used in gas warfare during World War One and is currently banned by international agreement. Yet another is used today as a rat poison.
All three are found in Winnipeg tap water.
All three contribute to degenerative diseases and premature aging. Two of them are added for reasons of public health.
Lead, chlorine and fluoride, just a few of the ingredients in the chemical soup most people call drinking water.
Lead as a health threat is not exactly news. Yet increasing quantities are consumed by Winnipeggers who get their water from the pipes in this city aging infrastructure.
But chlorine and fluoride are the real toxic twins.
Chlorine of course, is added to kill harmful bacteria in our water supply. But this is one case where the cure is worse than the disease.
Recent studies have shown chlorine, in combination with cholesterol, is what causes the artery-hardening plague plaguing millions, and not cholesterol alone.
Paul Bragg, Ph.D., in his book The Shocking Truth About Water, details chlorine role as a carcinogen implicated in bladder colon and breast cancers.
Fluoride has its own unique history. Sodium fluoride, according to health expert and author Harvey Diamond (Fit For Life, Fit For Life 2), is nothing more than a by-product of aluminum processing fraudulently foisted on an unsuspecting public by profit-hungry chemical companies.
Far from preventing cavities, fluoride actually causes them, Diamond says. Diamond wonders why people would knowingly drink water treated with acids like chlorine and fluoride that require waterworks employees to wear protective gear.
Dr. John Yiamouyiannis, meanwhile, in his bestseller Fluoride: The Aging Factor, documents the detrimental effects of fluoride on bones and collagen. He reports on the town of Kizilcaoern, Turkey, whose residents age prematurely.
The townfolk spend decades aging before each others eyes: 30-year-old men and women were toothless, wrinkled and weak. It was not until - ironically - a dentist determined high concentrations of fluoride (4-5 parts per million, compared to over 1 ppm in Winnipeg) in the local drinking water was responsible that the problem was solved.
Countless other health and water experts point to the fact that lead, chlorine and fluoride are only the worst offenders in tap water. Over 700 minerals and chemicals have been identified in modern civilization water supplies.
These contaminations contribute to the hardening of body tissues, accelerating the aging process, say health writer/researchers like Dr. Allen Banik (The Choice is Clear), and Dr. Norman Walker (Water Can Undermine Your Health), who died a few years ago at the age of one hundred and twelve!
Walker and Banik both discovered that the average person, in a lifetime will consume approximately 450 pounds of unusable, inorganic minerals, of the kind found caked on kettles and coffee pots.
All of the above mentioned experts agreed: tap water is slow suicide. All recommended the use of filtered and, preferably, distilled water for drinking and cooking.
Each one unequivocally states that pure water, sans additives, is essential for good health and longetivity.
If you wo not put tap water in your car rad, iron, or even some house plants, whu put it in your body?

140 cancer deaths blamed on chlorine-treated water - study finds 500 cases in Ontario, conference told

WINDSOR - Drinking water treated with chlorine could be causing more than 500 cases of cancer and about 140 deaths in Ontario each year, health study reveals.
Details of the Health Canada study were included in a report presented here yesterday to a Great Lakes conference organized by Environment Canada and the US Environment Protection Agency.
The study was based on 5,000 Ontario residents living south of Sudbury. More than half received municipally-treated water from the Great Lakes.
Others consumed treated groundwater or from rivers.
Researchers concluded the reaction of chlorine added to water with decaying organic material such as leaves and human and animal waste created a chlorine byproduct know as trihalomethanes (THMs).
They believe the THMs in drinking water are responsible each year for:
  -  Seventy deaths and 200 cases of bladder cancer.
  -  Seventy deaths and 350 cases of colon cancer.
  -  There was no evidence they increased the risk of rectal cancer.
The greatest risk for contracting the cancers was among those who drank water with elevated levels of THMs for more than 35 years, researchers found.
The study was conducted for Health Canada by Dr. Loraine Marrett and Will King at the University of Toronto and the Ontario Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation from 1992 to 1994.
Marrett and King did not recommend eliminating the use of chlorine in drinking water because of the greater health threat from untreated bacteria and parasites in raw water.
Murray Charlton, co-author of the report to the Great Lakes conference, agreed.
Charlton said changes could be found through further research in the area of water treatment where chlorine in allowed to mix with the decaying organic waste.
Some small organic wastes can pass through filters in water treatment plants and react with chlorine added to the process, said Charlton, of Environment Canada National Water Research Institute in Burlington.
"People are working on this. It iss good to know something is being done," he said.
Commercial carbon filters used in homes to further treat tap water were of little use, according to the report.
Other studies have shown some domestic filtering systems can create other bacteria.
"Unless they are properly maintained, water coolers and water filters thus actually worsen the microbial and chemical quality of tap water," said the report.
Dave Buzzelli, Dos Chemical environmental vice-president, would not comment on the report.
Dow in the world s largest manufacturer of chlorine.

Water, Water Everywhere

While municipal governments are responsible for supplying their municipalities with drinking water, the federal government - specifically Health and Welfare Canada - is responsible for the quality of all our water. However, there is no such thing as an enforceable drinking-water standard. We have no law in Canada that protects us against poisonous drinking water.
But today, the peril of contaminated water is not just a worrisome possibility; it is a grim reality. In fact, it is the single greatest environmental problem we face, made more dangerous still because few Canadians are aware of it, and fewer Canadian politicians are prepared to do anything about it. So far, they have either denied its seriousness or invented "acceptable" levels of drinking-water contamination. As Hagen puts it: "Nothing is being done as far as the government is concerned, so I feel you have got to do it on your own."
In truth, people is many parts of Canada are drinking contaminated water.
Both the World Health Organization and the National Cancer Institute in the United States and Canada have estimated that 60 to 90 percent of cancers are caused by contaminants, and up to 90 percent of these could be chemical contaminants.
To top it off, Health and Welfare Canada found that home devices employing granular activated carbon (GAC), the most common filter, might actually be hazardous in their own right. In 1981, the Ministry actually proposed a ban on all such devices, claiming that very high bacteria counts had been observed on activated carbon after it lay dormant for as little as one night. Should the bacteria entering the machine be pathogenic (harmful to humans), the machine itself could be a true health hazard. Other researchers have discovered that counter top devices show a wide range of efficiency - or, rather, inefficiency - when tested for their ability to filter toxins. Most were a joke.

Reverse Osmosis
The most dramatic uses of the technology are huge desalination plants - one in Jhedda, Saudi Arabia, that processes 3.2 million gallons of water daily.
Reverse Osmosis is also used extensively in medicine (the kidney dialysis machine is one example), in the pharmaceutical business and in the computer business, where ultrapure water is needed to rinse semiconductors. Scientists are even touting it as the eventual clean up solution to acid rain. It costs about 42 cents in electric power to make one gallon of distilled water. For an RO it is about 2 cents per gallon.
The best compromise is no compromise. Treat your water as thoroughly as you can, given cost constraints and practicality. Blending the attributes of the foregoing devices, a hybrid unit incorporating a simple prefilter, a reverse osmosis filter and a post filter of GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) would seem to be the best option. Several reliable manufacturers - whose names can be obtained from the CWQA (Canadian Water Quality Association) - product such units.

The Health Hazards of Iron and Manganese in Our Drinking Water

Documented studies have found that over 63% of the rural population drinks potentially unsafe water; water that contains dangerous levels of bacteria and/or hazardous chemicals.
In the past we have assumed that because Iron and Manganese are just ordinary minerals, water containing these substances posed no particular health threat. Medical research now tells us we can no longer assume this to be the case.
Iron (FE) - Maximum Acceptable Level = 0.3 mg/l - Recent investigations by reputable microbiologists working in the field of infectious diseases have shown that excess Iron in our drinking water may present serious health hazards.
Because most disease-causing organisms need Iron to grow and multiply, the bodys normal reaction to infection is to prevent Iron from reaching the invading microbes by tying it up chemically in the liver. If our drinking water is contaminated with Iron however, this defense-mechanism does not work, and the microbial infection begins to spread. As a result, our body becomes stressed......and susceptible to sickness and poor health.
Manganese (Mn) - Maximum Acceptable Level = 0.05 mg/l - Manganese poisoning is becoming a major health concern, since it has been found that certain people are especially sensitive to Manganese in their drinking water.
Chronic Manganese poisoning is quite insidious and initial symptoms such as apathy, irritability, headaches, insomnia, and weakness of the legs are common. Eventually, bizarre psychological symptoms develop, including impulsive acts, absentmindedness, hallucinations and aggressiveness.
If the poisoning continues, a condition similar to Parkinson disease will develop. Although it is not generally fatal, it is extremely disabling. High levels of Manganese in drinking water can also cause blood anemia in humans and animals.
Note: Iron and Manganese are commonly referred to as "sister elements" and often occur together in an untreated water-supply.

A chlorine cancer link?

Austin Texas -- A University of Texas scientist says his research shows that chemicals in chlorinated drinking water may destroy digestive tissue and cause cancer. The chemicals called haloacetonitrils, or HANs, are carcinogenic byproducts produced when chlorine interacts with algae and other impurities in water.

Chemicals in Drinking Water Most Serious Problem

In a national television news broadcast, Rodger Peterson reported, "Toxic chemicals from thousands of sources do not just disappear when they filter into the soil. They end up in our drinking water. We have 27,000 pits, ponds, and lagoons in North America that are potentially contaminating ground water along with 30 to 50,000 hazardous waste dump sites. I believe it is potentially the most serious environmental contamination problem that we face.

Pure Water Is Life

The evidence that distilled water and reverse osmosis water acts as a solvent within the body, dissolving the inorganic mineral deposits, is very important. This growing body of evidence suggests that distilled water and reverse osmosis water dissolves and removes these disease - causing minerals and flushes out the hundreds of dangerous chemicals that have been taken into the body, as well. Distilled and RO water is not only free from pollutants, but is apparently helps remove them as well from the cells of the body, thus purifying the body so that it can function as it should.
Some will question the ability of distilled water and RO water to carry out this purifying function because the idea and accumulating evidence are so new. Dr. Charles Mayo, one of the founders of the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, has said:

"It (hardness) is the underlying cause of many, if not all, or the diseases resulting from poisons in the intestinal tract. These pass from the intestinal walls and get into the lymphatic system, which delivers all of its products to the blood, which in turn, distributes to all parts of the body. This is the cause of much human disease.
Water hardness is inorganic minerals in solution. When these minerals enter the intestines in drinking water, there is a immediate reaction between them and the fats, oil and fatty acids present, causing a precipitation of inorganic calcium and magnesium, iron and so on, to form new, insoluble compounds."

Organic iron, magnesium, potassium, chromium, calcium, as well as all the other necessary minerals come from plants. Plants need inorganic minerals that they extract from the soil, rocks and water. The plants, then, convert these inorganic minerals into organic minerals through the process of photosynthesis, and they, then, can be assimilated and used by the human body.

Do We Need The Minerals In Our Tap Water?

Here is what the experts say: The body need for minerals is largely met through foods, not drinking water.
Minerals in drinking water: This issue is perhaps the "hottest" one regarding the use of distilled drinking water. It would be easy to find an equal number of "authorities"or "experts" on both sides of this controversial issue.
In short, virtually all nutritional and medical authorities agree that the body absorbs organic minerals from the daily food cycle. Where the authorities disagree is whether or not the body directly extracts any nutritional value from the minerals found in an inorganic form in the dissolved rocks, dirt and stone found in tap or "spring water."
A review of publicly available literature reveals NO conclusive evidence that water hardness (minerals) benefits heart and blood vessel diseases.
Distilled water should be used if the usual (tap) water supply contains more than 20 milligrams of sodium per liter.
It iss true that chemically an organic mineral is the same as an inorganic one, but there the similarities cease. The human body cannot use inorganic minerals - that is, minerals that have not already been organically processed. Minerals are only usable as they are found in organic forms of life such as plants, which make up an amazing link between the soils of the earth and animal life. Would you go into a gravel pit and pick up a piece of gravel and try to chew it up? Would you go out and pick up a handful of soil and eat it? Obviously not. Well, let your common sense answer here. Would you eat that piece of gravel if it were pulverized into particles small enough to swallow? Would you eat the soil if it were ground into a find powder? There is no difference except in particle sizes. We are not rock or soil eaters. Your body cannot incorporate rocks in to its cell structure. When you drink water containing minerals, they are inorganic. They are finely ground rocks! They have no more virtue in the human body than if the soil or rock itself were eaten.
There is no doubt that the body needs minerals. Our health can be no better than our mineral balance as well as other food and nutritional balances. In fact, the body is made up of 8.5% minerals - but because water happens to contain a small amount of these minerals does not mean that we should rely or water as a source.
In fact, tap water would be an unreliable source of minerals since the mineral make up in water supplies varies greatly from place to place and day to day. Finally, to obtain these few minerals from tap water, one has to accept all the chemicals and other pollutants known to be in our municipal water supplies.

To Whom It May Concern:

For 20 years I suffered with migraine headaches at least one every month. I tried everything from medication to acupuncture, chiropractors, reflexology, also abstaining from a number of foods that are noted for triggering migraines.
Last September I started drinking water through a Reverse Osmosis Purifier and now months later I am happy to relate I have NOT had a headache other than a minor one which Tylenol or Aspirin could take care of within a short period of time.
I would urge anyone to think seriously about the water they are using for drinking and cooking purposes.

PS: 7 1/2 years later I still have not had a migraine.

This is the first time I am writing an endorsement letter. My husband and I fell that your Ecowater Softener and Reverse Osmosis drinking water system is very good, and we want to tell you that we are very pleased with it.
The Water Softener lets us enjoy luxurious baths. We use less soap in our washing machine and dishwasher. You can feel the softness of the water on our skin.
The Reverse Osmosis lets us enjoy pure drinking water that actually tastes very good. By removing the impurities from the water we feel that your system has helped my husband control his high blood pressure.
He had high blood pressure for the last 25 years and he was taking medication for it. We installed your system and he has been off medication.
As you can see we are pleased with your products: matter of fact we sold the house where your water system was installed but we kept the water system and had it installed in our new home.

We purchased our Ecowater system and have been very pleased with it. After only a few days we started seeing positive results in our health. In the first four days of using only purified water exclusively Cindy lost eight pounds; we believe the high sodium content in our tap water was causing severe water retention, which the purifier solved immediately. We had a water cooler, but could not use the good water for everything or we would run dry in a day or two. Also, after several years with an irritable colon she was cured of this gastrointestinal problem virtually overnight.
With purified water on tap at all times, we do not hesitate to cook with it, make coffee and tea, and lots of juice for the kids. We like the fact they are getting good water and lots of it. Tap water is now only for washing ourselves and our clothes.
Another benefit we realized was the lower cost of the reverse osmosis unit. We had been renting a water cooler and had to refill the bottles four times a month. After five years we owned the bottles; that is it. Not only was the purchase plan cheaper every month than the old system, we do not have to make special trips for water anymore. And before we know it we will own an excellent water filtration system we can keep forever.
We would not hesitate to recommend an Ecowater system to anyone. It is a good product and a good value.

To Whom it may concern,

I have in the past, had different water companies try to improve the quality of my water to no avail. Then I got a letter from the irrigation district saying that it was their intention to leave water treatment up to the homeowner.
I was referred to Ecowater who assured me that they had a system to fix my water and guaranteed my satisfaction.
I am happy to say that my water is now as clear as any water I have ever seen, flowing cleanly from every tap in my home. My shirts are white again and I feel comfortable again. We even sent back our water cooler.
If the water in your house is important to you I personally recommend Ecowater.

Dear Ron From:
C/O Ecowater Systems

I am writing this letter to inform you of the therapeutic results I have received from drinking your Reverse Osmosis Water.
For the past three years I have been a sufferer of chronic heartburn. It was so bad that my doctor prescribed Zantacks (to neutralize and prevent the production of stomach acid) for my problem, at a cost of $98 for 24 tablets. Each month I would need to refill this prescription, you can just imagine the cost. I thought I would be plagued with heartburn and high prices for my prescription for the rest of my life. I have always lived a healthy and active life and could not believe that at the age of 29 I would be cursed with such a debilitating health problem. I would have heartburn so badly at night, it wake me up from a sound sleep and keep me up for an hour.
I have recently had the privilege of being introduced to Reverse Osmosis water, supplied by Ecowater systems. I would drink 6-8 glasses of this pure water daily, and to my amazement I realized after one short week my heartburn was gone. This was an unexpected blessing. I can now sleep through the nights soundly with no problems, in fact I have not had any heartburn since. I will continue to drink this miracle water for the rest of my life and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who wishes to improve the quality of their health and life.

To Whom It May Concern:

We really love drinking water out of the RO unit. It is so refreshing, both in flavor and in knowing that we are no longer contaminating our bodies every time we drink water.
Secondly, we are amazed at how our skin and hair feel after showering, they are so soft and healthy. The dryness in our skin has been greatly reduced.
Thirdly, and maybe most importantly these days, is the economy. We use so much less soap. Only a small amount of laundry detergents gets our dirtiest laundry cleaner than ever before. Our clothing also feels softer against our skin. One tiny squirt of dish soap suds up and does a great job on the dishes. Shampoo lasts longer and does a better job. We normally would have gone through at least one and one-half containers of laundry soap in one month. We have not even used three-fourths of one bottle.
Lastly, we would like to thank you for your friendly service. Your attention and your knowledge are greatly appreciated. If we would have just bought a department store softener we would not have gotten such a high quality machine, and we would not have had your expertise. You were able to offer us advice on what, exactly, our water needed. We now know that not everyone needs the same type of system.
  Thank you once again.

To Ecowater Systems, Kelowna

I am thrilled with the benefits I have experienced from drinking purified water. Two years ago, when I was 83, my life was miserable. My joints ached, my movements were restricted, and I could only get in and out of the bathtub with a struggle. I could not dig in the garden, or comfortably sit on the floor. Then I heard about your water system through The Apply Valley Review newspaper, and we had a water purifier installed in our home.
For the past two years I have been drinking two pints of pure water every day before I eat or drink anything else. The results are little short of miraculous. I can now hop in and out of the tub, spend several hours a day in my garden, and get up easily off the floor. Since the only change in my routine has been drinking Ecowater s purified water, I must attribute my general improvement in health to the pure water regime that I have followed.
Thank you so much for enabling me to feel so much better at 85 than I did at 83.

Dear Ron,
Five months ago I started drinking distilled water and I can honestly say it has changed my life for the better.
I have had rheumatoid arthritis most of my life and had to give up my music because of this. The pain was so bad I had no alternative but to take expensive pain killers every day. Now with distilled water I no longer require pills. The pain has vanished like magic! My Doctors call it a miracle. I call it plain common sense.
I sincerely hope this message helps others as much as it has helped me. Pure clean distilled water is to me the sweetest thing on earth and I thank God for this simple remedy. Our soft water is tremendous too! I could not live without it ... much better than having a maid and a lot cheaper too! God bless you all!

Dear Ron and Wes,

We have been meaning to write for some time, and tell you how much we are enjoying our water softener and purifier. It is all you said it would be and more! No more calcium deposits in the sinks, and everything is so much easier to keep clean. But, best of all, John has not had one attack of gout last October! We had no idea that this would be one of the benefits. From mid 1981 to the fall of 1984, he saw the doctor ten different times about this problem, had tried every different medication imaginable, had even seen a specialist about it. His diet had become very restricted, and he would even bought a cane! Since having our purifier installed, all restrictions are removed from his diet, he has been on no medication, has not seen his doctor once, and has not missed a day work. We are more than pleased, as this condition usually requires a lifetime regiment of diet and medication to control.
Also, we would like to express our appreciation for your service to us and your concern that everything should be just right, long after installation and complete payment had been made. So often these days it is "Goodbye Charlie" after the job is done, and we have found you be to most helpful. Your business practices have our highest praise and recommendation. We are not only satisfied, but very pleased.
Thank you and God bless you!

Dear Ron,

Since January 1, 1986 my husband and I have been monitoring my 82 year old Aunt blood pressure. My Aunt has suffered from high blood pressure for 25 years. She would have fainting spells regularly.
About 15 years ago her doctor put her on medication but this failed to regulate it. In April of 1985 she suffered a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Her outlook on life changed since then.
Since October 18, 1986 we started to take her distilled water to drink and cook with. At this time her blood pressure was 197/103. On November 1, 1986 it had dropped to 146/76. This is a miracle. Now it stays down most of the time with maybe 1 or 2 days a month it will be elevated. Before this, it would be only 1 or 2 days a month where it would be down. She now has new zest for life and enthusiasm to get out and walk to the store and shop on her own. The sparkle is back in her eyes and we have watched this progress - it is almost unbelievable. This only change has been her water. Her diet and medication have remained the same. It is like Dr. Braggs stated in his book The Shocking Truth About Water. That the inorganic minerals can cause high blood pressure, and this appears to be the truth in my Aunt case. If someone else is having this problem they owe it to themselves to try it.

To Whom It May Concern:

If you want to stay healthy, start first with pure water, for the water today is contaminated every where on this planet.
You would not take water off your floor and drink it, would you? Then why would you take water after it has run through pastures, human and animal waste, herbicides, and pesticides and drink it? Because only 1% of water is used for human consumption all cities can do is add chlorine, which is meant to kill harmful living organisms. Unfortunately, it kills all living organisms.
You either have a filter or you are a filter. Water by its nature is not pure. Because it is a solvent, it picks up a little bit of everything it touches. Do not gamble with your health fix your water with proper equipment.

To Whom It May Concern,

Six months ago we had a Reverse Osmosis drinking water system installed. My husband and I had stomach problems and have found through drinking the water how much better we feel, it is really amazing.
We also had a water softener installed and what a blessing this has been, I have psoriasis and this skin problem is so much better. What a luxury to bathe in that lovely soft water, plus the many benefits of minimal cleaning and pure soap.
All in all we are very thankful we were introduced to this health giving water system and plan on enjoying it for many years to come.
